Riddles

1. Alive without breath, as cold as death.
Never thirsty, ever drinking.
All in mail, never clinking.

2. This thing all things devour,
Birds beasts trees flowers.
Slays king, ruins town,
Beats high mountain down.

3. Poor people have it,
Rich people want it,
And if you eat it you die.

4. I'm as light as a feather,
yet the strongest man can't hold me for long.

5. Try name three days in a row without using,
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Things to Ponder

Why are there flotation devices under plane seats instead of parachutes?
Where do all the missing socks go?
Why do we call it a hamburger when it is made from beef?
Why are cigarettes sold at gas stations if smoking is prohibited there?
Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
Why does an alarm clock "go off" when it BEGINS ringing?
Why are aliens always green?

Ponder these questions.

The Consumers Guarantees Act

Mr Woody told us this morning that you can not say you are selling something you're not. But Mr Woody was incorrect. It was on the first link which in bold a title stated The Act Does Not Cover items bought over auction and several other places. This means I could sell you a packet of chips filled with air.

Mr Woody fed us mistakes, which are big mistakes.

My Future Goal

My future goal when I'm is to play for the Black Sticks and I am already training towards that goal. I am currently in the top team for my age group which is huge for me. My dad has also played hockey for New Zealand so I know what it takes. My family is very supportive which makes me want to take my goals to the next level. We know how much the tournaments can cost and are willing to do what it takes. Being a hockey player isn't a large task so I can still study for university to be a dentist so after my hockey carrier I will still have a steady income. This way if I don't make it as a hockey player I would have a steady income.

Interesting Subjects

I love the subject of war, I don't know why, I just do. There are interesting facts such as in World War II the British created the flail tank which was extremely useful on the beach in which the British invaded on D-Day, 6 June 1944. I am interested in this because my father is extremely interest in this and now I am interested in this. I am also interested in medieval topics as well such as what they eat and the way they live. I hope to look into this further soon.

My Unknown Face

My face is unknown; no one's seen it before. My face is now famous; it's made me a celeb. I am shy, I hide from you, my face does not change that. I'm afraid of you too. They call me a crook, they call me a thief, I’m just afraid you’ll call me a beast. At school I was teased, at school they were mean, they called me a dog, they laughed behind my back. I heard them all the same; they said I was a freak, just because my teeth are as big as their feet. They said “go back to the pack,” I would say “just get off my back!” They all called me names, my friends joined in; even the teachers just stood there and grinned. I am hurt, in more ways than one; all I want is to run. I go for a run, some kids see me going, they think it will be funny, they call up the pound. Along comes a man, in a large truck. He pulls out a net, I start to turn, and then I notice there’s meat in the net. My instincts take over, I go for the meat. My brain is searing, thinking I better dash, I better scram. The man is sneering, saying “stupid dog, its poisoned meat!” That’s when I gained control, I ducked low and dived past the net and bit that guy between the legs! “Ouch” he yelled, “stupid dog.” Then I said “heard of soap?” Startled he ran down the street, leaving behind his van. I’ve grown up since then in disgrace, never showing my face to the human race. People see me in the shadows my back to them. They come too close most the time, so I flee, this all they know of me.

Why these Bonds

Every day, I long to fly with the birds, but restrained by these bonds to earth. I long for the freedom to feel weightless, to soar through the clouds. The dreams at night seam so real, but yet so far, and blocked by steel. Each day the burden grows stronger, I want to fly with all my heart. One long night I cannot sleep, the owl in the night sky makes me want to fly all the more. The sky is the limit but yet no more, for me the earth by my limit. All the more I yearn for the sky just to be vanquished on the brink of success. My will is pure that matters not for defeat is stronger by the end. The sky calls and the stars beckon yet all I can do is refuse their wishes. Many a man has failed in his attempt to fly yet all succumb to the same fate, but not for me. I shall fly, that by my fate, I shall succeed for this is my future. The day will come, for that I’m certain.
This is my fate, I see the curtain.

Hockey Tournament

Today (2/6/09) My team the Fairfield XI played in four games with results of 0-0 against Mata Mata, 1-0 against Melville, 1-0 against TA, and 3-0 to Tokaroa. In the first game we dominated the first half and second but laking the ability to put the ball in the back of the net. The second match we were strong overall sticking to our positions and managing to sneak in a goal. In the third much of the same winning comfortably by a goal. Then in the final game knowing that we had to win we hit some bad referees counting a goal that came off someones foot. Peachgrove XI won the tournament. Overall we enjoyed ourselves with some nice team work.

Reptiles are Amazing

Aren't reptiles amazing! They can direct their spit, glide, they can even run on water! Speaking of which, here's a video clip! The Spitting cobra is so clever it can defend it's self from a hawk by spitting it's poison into the hawk's eyes leaving it temporally blind and in a whole heap of pain!

To the left a juvenile Red Spitting Cobra.

The Falling Stars

Scholes handing the ball before
getting a red card.
(picture on left)

Manchester United have suffered dearly in the Premier League after losing to Liverpool with an embarrassing score of 4-1 after losing Vidic for a red card after rugby tackling Liverpool's caption Steven Gerrard earning a straight red card. A week later Manchester United were having trouble against Fulham after Scholes seeing red for stopping the ball from going into the goal with his hands. Moments later Danny Murphy put away a penalty for an early lead. In the second half while Man United strives for an equaliser Fulham's Zoltan Gera struck a superb shot to seal the victory. Seconds later out of frustration Rooney through the ball away earning a second yellow, then later claiming to be returning the the ball. In later news Chelsea losing 1-0 to Tottenham and Liverpool beating Aston Villa with a 5-0 stunner. That's all for this time.

The Land Shark

The land shark is a ferocious amphibious creature. It's a nocturnal animal that sleeps all day in ponds, rivers and lakes. They live in groups of 5 to 10, the reason for this is so they can bring down larger prey. They hunt deer, fish and the occasional human. Hunting at night gives them the needed advantage against these larger animals. It is 50cm tall and 1 metre long. The land shark lives in the Amazon Rain Forest. So if you're in the Amazon think again before going for a midnight walk.

Ungreen Fonterra

Why does Fonterra use lots of non recyclable plastic packaging while selling itself as a clean green New Zealand company? For example Fonterra's Tip Top ice-cream comes in non recyclable containers which goes against their clean, green image! We need a good healthy environment to produce the milk that they use but they are currently damaging it through the use of non recyclable containers. So I ask you again, why does Fonterra use lots of non recyclable plastic packaging when there are lots of less damaging alternatives?
